2012: Polar Shift. Many believe that the year 2012 will bring about the next polar shift. Basically, it is expected for the North and South Pole to change places. If you are looking for a scientific explanation for this occurrence, it would be that the Earth will start to rotate in the opposite direction as a result of some unknown catastrophic event.

Some hold to the belief that earths rotation is not stable. Others say it is.

A lightning strike could cause a reversal of poles. It may seem incomprehensible to most how this could happen; but, when a magnet is struck by lightning, it causes a reverse in the magnets field.

Like a magnet, the Earth has poles as well. If something were to cause a short circuit in the field, the poles might shift.

It wouldn’t be lightning as we think of it. It would be more like an intense beam from the sun best described as solar flares. When the gases in our sun hit a critical point, solar flares result. If that critical point were strong enough, the suns rotation would change. The earth would be struck with plasma particles and shockwaves of material from space. These events could be strong enough to cause the shift.

This strike causes a short in our magnetic field.

Scientists have been able to flip fields in experiments by shooting large sums of particles at a bipolar magnet. The particles are caught in the field and cause a ring stream. When this stream accelerates to a certain velocity, the poles reverse automatically.

The experiment performed by the scientist could be applied, on a much larger to scale, to the Earth. When a solar storm occurs, the earths magnetic field compresses and gains velocity for a brief period of time.

Solar particles have a magnetic charge of their own. When they reach earth, they move in spirals on the magnetic lines. After passing the north-south axis and reaching the equator, they will create the ring stream.

As a result, this magnetic field will be stronger than ours. For this to actually happen, a solar flare, unlike any in recorded history, will need to be produced by the sun.

This seems to be the point where scientists start to disagree on what will happen. Some believe this will cause a polar shift while others do not.

Everyone wonders what is happening in the world today. Everyone is unsure if the end is neigh or if we have a log way ahead of us. Many cultures believe to former. The other belief is that it will be a death of human thought. What I mean is that human beings will begin life a new with a change in the way we think. It will be as if something happens to make us all think in some peculiar way. It would be an enlightenment of sorts for all beings on Earth.

Another belief that holds a lot of water is that nothing will happen. Maybe all of these people have been blowing smoke to scare everyone. It is a great way to get movies and books produced. If people are worried they will want to know more. So, this could just be a ploy for people’s greed.

2012 has already caused an uproar with many people. A lot will be preparing themselves that year for the end. Many books and television shows have gained popularity because of 2012. Chances are this is how it will happen. The new year will come around. The psychos that believe the world will come to an end will rape and pillage everything. Then nothing will happen. Everyone will rejoice except for the people hurt by nothing but a few words spoken by an ancient civilization. That, or they could very well cause the end of the world they so believed would happen on it’s own. It could be a self-fulfilling prophecy. That would be irony.

That is most of what it is all about. So is 2012 doomsday or a new beginning? We don’t know for certain. We will when the year comes around though.
