There has been a lot of talk recently about the end of the Mayan calendar. This is not surprising, as it is supposed to end in 2012 which is just around the corner. Many people want to know, where to live if the 2012 prophecies are true. If we are really coming to the end of the world, is there any place that is safer to live than others?

First of all, the prophecies do not actually signal that the world will come to an end. This is a common misconception. The prophecies are about transition, which means a beginning as well as an ending, and is not inherently a bad thing.

According to the Mayans, what changes is not the universe itself but our consciousness within it. Basically, in 2012, we the fifth Mayan world according to their calendar ends and we begin the sixth. And there are no predictions for the sixth world as it is up to us to determine what this new world will look like. Thus, the slate is clean for us to enter a golden age or our demise.

Where you live at this time is not really important, it is how you are living that is the key. Preparing for this transition is not about moving yourself physically, it is about transforming yourself spiritually. We can only discover our potentials both as individuals and as a people by working towards enlightenment of the spirit.

However, you might consider living in or nearby a spiritual community. Being with others that are working towards the same goal should make it easier for you to stay on your path. Also, the energetic vibration possible is higher by working on your spiritual development with others. There are many people who believe in the prophecies and are living and preparing themselves in various communities throughout the world.

There are also certain areas in the world where the energetic vibration of the earth is at a higher level. Even if you do not realize this is what you are feeling, you naturally feel more centered and at peace in places like these. Examples of strong energetic centers include Nepal and the areas surrounding Cuzco in Peru.

So, where to live if the 2012 prophecies are true? It is not a physical location that you need to find. It is that space within yourself where you are in total spiritual harmony with yourself and all within the universe. What we should learn from the 2012 prophecies is that only through personal spiritual development can we be not only saved but ushered into the new sixth world in a better place and form than ever before.
